New Obsession: Gaara

...and badly timed since I'm in the middle of writing an Arty and Jarl fic.

I've been avoiding Naruto for 5 years now. I started reading it in Shonen Jump when it first came out, got annoyed by the immaturity, and stopped reading it only *two chapters* before it got good, as I just learned. Darkhelmetj is going to write a Gaara fic, though, so I decided to watch the uncut anime for her sake--in other words, so I could beta read well.

. . . . then I was introduced to Rock Lee and Gaara. Bushy eyebrow guy and no eyebrow guy. Doomed. Doomed, doomed, doomed. Rock Lee's fighting style and attitude got me, as did the humor parts around him. Gaara's backstory and character design got me. And now I'm obsessed. I'm on episode 94, and I've been told the best part is after the two year time skip. I can't wait. :P

I will finish my Arty and Jarl fic, of course. But after that, I may be writing some Gaara fics. But right now, I'm writing nothing at all--I'm either doing work or watching Naruto. ^^;

Seriously, sometimes muses choose the oddest times to show up. They just can't be prevented from popping in and saying hi.

I have avoided Naruto as well (like the plague actually), but if there are some redeeming characters in there I am curious.

Gaara. See my new avatar. If you can get past the first story arc, it gets better. And "part II" is apparently so much better that it's like it's not the same series.

I'm tempted to just avoid part I altogether because I'm curious now. Gaara looks like a goth boy almost, so now I'm intrigued

Gaara is the evilest little bugger ever. He's so distracting that he's keeping me from doing work! Then again, it's not his *fault* that he's so evil and angsty and deserving of a HUG.

I added more favourites today. DOOOOMED. We can be doomed together, okay?

ah yea i avoided naruto until my sister kinda forced it on me and now im hooked... i've seen all of them that have been released in japan so far =P gaara is awesome and i like sasuke for whatever reason. i like the episodes after the time skip as well... anyways i'll definitely read the fics since you're such an awesome writer!! :glomp:

Rats. I knew Naruto would claim you once she started writing her fic. I've been avoiding it not because it's not good, but because it is good, and it's way too fricking long. I'm going to get sucked in, and then never get back out, and I'll have to drop everything as my muse goes crazy. Not gonna let it happen yet.

You can start with the Chuunin Exam arc. Episode 20 or 21. Actually, you can whiz through the written exam part and move straight to exam 2. That's when Gaara shows up, Sasuke gets interesting, and the Big Bad is introduced. If you like fight scenes, there are cool fights throughout the Chunin arc, then the climatic fight is Gaara's. Gaara actually reminds me a bit of Artemis. Emotionless killer; excellent at what he does; scares everyone else to pieces; traumatic past....
